A LITTLE ABOUT HOW WE DO THINGS HERE AT CALARYN . . . .

Raising robust healthy puppies is an enjoyable and enriching experience for us. We are often asked "how can you stand parting with one of your puppies?"  Our answer is it is always a bittersweet experience not without tears.  But it warms our hearts to know that we have given such joy and love to another family even though we miss each puppy that goes to his or her new home. Which is why we are very protective and selective regarding puppy placement.

We only breed a few litters a year. We may have a puppy in a litter that shows promise as a show dog and we will hold that puppy for several weeks or months to watch its development, however, it is important to us that even dogs not destined for the show ring are as healthy and structurally sound as possible.  Those that we don't keep are placed as pets on a spay or neuter contract.

When puppies are available, you can see them in either our Yorkshire Terrier or Biewer Nursery

PLACEMENT

We carefully screen prospective owners and take a lot of time answering their questions, asking our questions and getting to know each other.  This enables us to match the personality of the puppy to the lifestyle of his new family.

We take reservations only after pups are 8 weeks old.  This is when they have their first serious evaluations for type, structure, movement, and other things that experienced breeders look for and when their personalities and temperament are evident.

Puppies do not leave us until they are 12 weeks or older depending on size and development. If you live close enough, we encourage our future "parents" to visit the litter as often as they want as their puppy grows.

If you would like to be placed on our waiting list please submit our Adoption Questionnaire by email or snail mail and don't hesitate to call us or write.

REGISTRATION AND PEDIGREES  Our Foundation Sires and Dams have impeccable champion pedigrees of which we are very proud. Due to internet security issues involving theft of pedigrees, we no longer post our pedigrees on our website.  However, we will provide copies of our pedigrees to serious buyers upon personal request.  Our Yorkies are AKC registered and our Biewers are registered in Germany.  All puppies will come with thier five generation pedigrees for your files. Puppies are sold as pets on limited registrations, meaning no breeding, unless other arrangements are made.

Our pedigrees are filled with world class Champion bloodlines

HEALTH

We are very proud of our excellent health record. All parents are tested for genetic diseases and general health and for breeding suitability. They are all DNA certified. Our puppies are checked by our veterinarian and come with a vet signed health certificate and our one year health guarantee against genetic diseases.  Pups will have at least two or more in their puppy shot series and will have been dewormed.

SOCIALIZATION

We hand raise our puppies from day one to socialize them and they are always kept nearby where ever we are.  When old enough our puppies are allowed to run and play indoors and out with us and their family "pack" so they can learn pack etiquette from their parents, aunts and uncles and siblings; things only their pack can teach them.

We take puppies on short trips take to town when they are old enough and hand them around to various people so  they get used to town noises and new people. We have granchildren who visit and play with the puppies so they can become used to children.

GOING HOME

Your new puppy will be crate trained and well on his way to being potty trained by using piddle pads in their exercise pen and close to the door, learning from example from their parents, aunts, uncles and cousins by following them outside to play and do their business.

You will receive a Puppy Pack containing all of their health records, their Well Puppy Certificate signed by our licensed vet, State or International Health Certificate if traveling, their 5 generation pedigree showing their ancestors and championships, a package of their food and puppy gifts.  You will also receive our personally authored Puppy manual containing lots of information, advice & hints and links to suppliers we use.

TRANSPORT:  We do not ship puppies in cargo.  Usually our prospective parents fly into our airport, Seattle/Tacoma (Sea/Tac).  We meet them at the airport, take them out for brunch, have an enjoyable visit and take them back to the airport to catch their return flight or to their hotel if they stay overnight.  They carry their new puppy in a dog carry-on (soft sided Sherpa type bag) in the cabin with them.  Reservations must be made with the airline in advance to carry a pet and  the fee is paid at the check in counter.  The price varies with airlines, but usually runs about $80 to $150.  We also use the services of a very nice woman who is a courier for transporting pets. She hand carries them on the flight in the cabin with her and personally hands them to you at your nearest airport.  She charges $375.00 payable to her by the adoptive parents upon delivery. She will communicate with us and you during the entire process to assure how the puppies are doing on their journey.

PRICE  Read more about that on "Thinking of buying" page for details.

SUPPORT

We work hard to ensure that our puppies are a wonderful happy, healthy house pet to a loving family, so we remain your source of support and friendship long after the placement of one of our puppies. Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns.

We enjoy hearing from you.
